Tuesday October 31 , 2000 Matt Kiefer On College Recruiting And Evansville Mater Dei
The 6-9 Developing Small Forward lists University Of Evansville , Notre Dame , Iowa ,Xavier and Purdue as his early favorite schools..
"I have unoficially visited visited Notre Dame , Evansville and Purdue , " states Kiefer.. " No favorites at this time . I have no plans for any more visits until after the season ," Matt continued ..
When asked about the Evansville Mater Dei team Kiefer stated , "We lost seven seniors from last season's 23-3 team ..We got a great transfer playmaker in 5-9 Sr.Travis Welch from Evansville Day School.
We got another Big Man in 6-5 Sr. Joe Halbig.
We return our point guard in Jr. 5-10 Patrick Mallory and 6-3 Sr. Shooter Jared Schiff , " Matt Kiefer gushed...
The South Is Always Very Competitive..We expect Evansville Mater Dei To Make A Strong Bid For Semi State In 2001 !!

Less Is More At Michigan City !!
The Wolves lost their four best players to graduation last season in Ricky Gooden (Bethel) , Chris Ikpoh (University Of Chicago ), William Hurt and Mark Bishop..
Finishing 16-7 last season , one might wonder how MC will recover from such a loss..
They start in the heart of the lineup with 6-8 Paul Kopanski.. Big Paul scored 11 ppg. and grabbed 8 rpg. last campaign.
He has been recruited by St. Joseph's , Elon , Lewis , University Of Indianapolis and Army.
Kopanski will commit in April..
Two other seniors that will be large for The Wolves are 6-0 180 pound playmaker Anthony Williams and 5-9 scoring machine Victor Walker...
Williams is truly underrated and has NCAA D1 Tools..He defends on ball and in passing lanes like a swarming gnat..Offensively , once he is challenged, he blazes to "the cup" at will..
Williams will qualify academically so low-mid majors should follow his progress...
Walker is the shorty that scores off the dribble and pulls from all angles..
Walkers game is similar to former Elkhart Central's Anthony Kyle.(1999)
Kopanski tells IBN that "our best player may be 6-4 Tim Lewis.."
"The leaper is a rim sitter that also gets banging physical around the rim ," according to Paul...
Lewis is the athlete that yearly resides in Urban schools and finally plays his senior season..
Michigan City needs this quartet of seniors to win sectionals this season and finally receive the respect that they so desire..
Time Will Tell ..
Babo Nyamsi Sergechristian (Arlington)To Committ In April!!
The Cameroon , Africa native has decided to play the season out before he makes a college choice.
"No one saw me last season because I was forced to play JV ",Babo tells IBN.
"Many colleges still think I have visa and academic problems. I do not !" I can play College Basketball in USA and I received all passing core grades including four A'S , stated Babo..
"At this time my favorite schools are Ohio University and Butler ..
I will visit Butler Thursday and Friday..
Butler wants me to attend Prep school before I attend their school..So, I am going to travel to The State of Massachsetts this weekend to visit Winchendon Prep Academy , " says Babo...
" Basically by doing this I will be exploring my options while keeping all options open to the spring , " concluded Nyamsi..
Our feeling is that the 6-9 Babo would like to prove his game to all of America this 2000-2001 season before he makes a decision...
Physically he knows that he has few peers..
After a season of Disciplined play at Arlington , USA College programs will better understand the life and game of Babo Nyamsi..
Sunday Evening-Just In !!
Maconaquah's 6-9 SF Corey Burns Chooses Morehead State University !!
We have just learned that The deep shooting Peru, Indiana native has decided to join Kyle Macy's Ohio Valley program.
The Burns committment marks the second Indiana prep ( the former Indiana Legend / NBA player ) that Macy has raided from Indiana's College Basketball programs this recruiting season .
Just last week Kyle Macy swiped Indiana's arguably best shooter in Kyle Hankins / Bloomington South.
If Coach Macy continues to recruit such strong players to Morehead State , one day his coaching prowess may reach the calber of father Bob Macy.
The Peru legend won 533 games in Indiana High School Basketball while fathering Player Legend now Coach Kyle Macy.
Burns chose Morehead over similar offers from IPFW , Belmont , Harvard , University Of Southern Indiana and Binghampton /New York.
If Maconaquah can find some guard play , they should sport a winning season.
Besides the 6-9 Burns , they also have 6-7 Sr.Buddy Richardson and 6-6 Jr. Strongman Mike Otto..
IBN Salutes Corey Burns and Morehead State University !!

Purdue Finalizes Class Of 2001 Recruiting
6-5 Darmetries Kilgore / Tyler Junior College officially visited Purdue this weekend and committed to The Boilers. The South Bend native and former Washington High Star told IBN months ago that he would probably committ to Gene Keady's program.
He will receive the third and final scholarship for next season.
Previously, South Bend Lasalle's Brandon McKnight accepted the first scholarship in June.
Recently , 6-8 PF Matt Carroll ( Aurora,Colorado ) also agreed to accept a full athletic scholarship to Purdue University.
We will have more Purdue University recruiting news soon !!
6-9 Corey Burns Cancels Belmont Visit!!
Scheduled to visit Nashville this weekend ,Corey chose to forego that trip in favor of possibly playing through the season before a college choice is made..
The rangy deep shooting natural small forward may also decide early from IPFW or Morehead State University. STAY TUNED !

6-6 (Freshman) Lowell Levingston / Ft. Wayne Snider and 6-4 (Senior ) Greg Mcintosh / Indianapolis Heritage Christian
IBN Chief Associate Jim Kasberg is reporting that two Mid-High Major College Prospects are bursting onto The Indiana High Basketball Scene ,for the first time, this upcoming 2000-2001 season.
Lowell Levingston is the son of Cliff Levingston.
The former Wichita State Star and Chicago Bull NBA Champion , recently accepted an assistant coaching position with The Ft.Wayne Fury of The CBA....
"Long and strong ," is how Gym Rats Amateur Basketball Club Chairman Bill Hensley describes Levingston.
"Lowell has the ability to consistently drain the 15 footer or spin and 360' dunk on your head ", Hensley continued.
After exploring High Schools in the Ft. Wayne area, the Levingston's chose a home in the Ft. Wayne Snider district.
Former Marion asst.coach Ray Sims now has the enviable task of developing Levingston and meshing him with his already talented squad.
Pairing the newcomer with 6-8 Jr. Martez Lane will present a fearsome post presence for Snider's Summit foes to deal with.
Greg Mcintosh has apparently been home schooled all his academic career while playing in local recreational leagues including the St.Pius league.
Very athletic and springy, Mac plays point guard or two guard with equal flair.
His hidden talent has already garnered an early offer from South Alabama.
Heritage Christian certainly will be strong this season with Mcintosh's contribution. The Northeastside Christian Academy already featured 6-3 Mid-High Major Prospect in Josh Gomes.
Who would have guessed that Heritage Christian would now arguably have the best guard duo in Indianapolis ??

6-7 Zach Reuter / Martinsville Contemplates Four Scholarship Offers.
This time of year for High School Seniors is an exciting time , especially when you actually have scholarships to accept or deny.
That is the case currently with Zach Reuter of Martinsville .
After an outstanding July College Exposure season , Zach is now deciding between NCAA D1's Youngstown State , IPFW , and Binghampton (NY).
Scholarship Granting NCAA D2 St. Josephs (of Indiana ) is also equal in Reuters choices....
Reuter may play the season out but more probably he will announce a choice real soon...

Aaron Patterson Update
October 19 we reported that former Ben Davis student/athlete Aaron Patterson had enrolled at Warren Central to live with his legal guardian (mother).
For some reason, he did not enroll at Warren Central until this Tuesday, October 24th.
We thank our honest, trusted sources that make IBN the only relable, daily source of Indiana Boys Basketball recruiting news.
Whether Aaron Patterson ever plays this season at Warren Central is the business of the IHSAA
Early reports indicate he is eligible academically.
Remember that on OCtober 21, Ben Davis Jay Jones stated to IBN that, "Aaron missed one week of condidtioning and then showed up without a physical exam or proper haircut."
"At that time he was told that he was no longer a member of the program," stated Jay Jones.
So, if Patterson is not allowed to try out for a IHSAA school team as of the first practice date of October 30, how could he be denied the opportunity to participate in a school system of which his legal guardian resides in??
Time will tell if Aaron Patterson is allowed to participate in his senior and final season of Indiana Basketball
6-2 Kyle Hankins (Bloomington South ) chooses Morehead State !!
"The decision was tough between Valparaiso University and Morehead State University," Hankins tells IBN..
" Basically I want to play right away and I will have the opportunity to do so for Coach Kyle Macy, stated Hankins.
" I feel comfortable with everything at Morehead State," concluded the jump shooting Hankins.

Marion County and Indianapolis Is Loaded This 2000-2001 Season !!
Previously we have mentioned # 1 ranked Pike , Warren Central , Ben Davis , Arlington and Lawrence North.
Franklin Central , Perry Meridian , Brebeuf and Lawrence Central all will win this season and are capable of winning any Region in The State , except maybe the one they play in.
With breaks here and there , they have the talent to upset more talented and deeper teams.
No team has a better chance of upsetting teams in Marion County than Indianapolis Lawrence Central.
Only .500% last season, their young roster is hugely talented in spite of little experience.
The " heart and soul of LC " is football warrior 6-2 185 pound Albert Redd.
Redd's sport is football but his strength on both Basketball offense and defense is a rugged presence that exudes team confidence.
Indiana's Top Sophomore is LC'S 6-5 Deandre Peyton.
Explosive and versatile for all positions but playmaker , Peyton is such a dangerous threat that two defenders will be asked to watch him.
If two people guard Peyton , then 6-2 Skywalker Jr. Greg Stone should be open to drain threes or dunk off slashes.
Eligible thus far for football , hopefully Stone is erasing past academic woes.
6-0 Jr. Kevin Jones reportedly has shaken all attitude labels this fall while also developing a playmaker mentality.
Jones could have been the best guard in the Junior Class since seventh grade , but academics and uncoachable attitude was his calling card..
If those issues are behind him , then he has a chance to be a special player.
We still predict that both Greg Stone and Kevin Jones will matriculate to IUPUI and Father Kevin Jones (asst.coach).
6-8 235 Pound Low Post Scoring Roadblock Andrejs Kregers is literally the " LC BEAR " in the middle and without question , the most stable on and off the court LC player.
Junior Andrejs " is a load to handle " if he is able to catch the ball within 8 feet of the rim.
His strength allows him to finish down low or draw the foul.
He runs the court well as he will prove this season in LC'S secondary break.
We expect coach Mike Miller to have Kregers concentrate on lateral , vertical , plyometric and explosive exercises for development of his game .
Kregers Post presence has Purdue, Ball State , Notre Dame , and The Mac all recruiting " The Big Fella. "
College Recruiters can also follow Andrejs Kregers next spring / summer in Bob Pryor's Nike Bloomington Red Club..
Andrejs Kregers father tells IBN , " next summer is crunch time in recruiting.."
We are no longer participating in the Local Indiana Select Program. Andrejs will play with Sean May and The National Bloomington Red NIKE program.

East Chicago's 6-6 Carlton " Oodie " Baker
The 190 pound " rim rattling " Sophomore at Barton County Junior College ( Great Bend , Kansas) has received a great deal of High Major Recruiting interest.
Colleges that have journeyed to Great Bend this fall to meet with Baker include : Hawaii
Cincinnati
Houston
University of Alabama /Birmingham
Texas A and M Listing no favorites at this time, Baker's 19 ppg and 10 rpg. as a reserve freshman will surely increase as Head Coach Ryan Wolf (Martinsville native) will be calling on Baker to carry even more of the load this time around.
Former Indiana Preps to watch at Barton JC this season are 6-7 Eric Washington (Lafayette Catholic ),5-11 Jason Carter (Gary Mann) and 5-10 Eric Bush (Anderson)..

Indianapolis Tech High School's Bryant Dillon
Who is Indiana's most underrated Senior ?
We would lobby for Dillon and Pike's David Teague.
Both athletes are "physically late bloomers " .
They both are very good now regardless of their growing stature.
Teague has been recruited extensively by Elon, Central Michigan, Eastern Illinois and Weber State.
David Teague was the best performer at The IBN Top 100 and he was extremely good at the end of the summer Spiece event.Prior to that he was positioned poorly by teams in July that asked him to travel to Las Vegas and play four man.
We blame Coach Alan Darner for advising him to play for that Indianapolis team that travelled to Las Vegas.
Anyway, Teague worked hard in July to define himself as the best shooting guard prospect in the class....
We rank him # 3 behind #1 Dennis Coutee / Jeffersonville and # 2 Kyle Hankins / Bloomington South.
Bryant Dillon at a growing 6-6 and a 6-10 wing span is an enormous prospect..
Dillon is a very good perimeter player that is daily improving his shooting ability....
Dillon will academically predict, mature and have a great college career
Evansville, Drake and The University of Indianapolis are the only teams with sense to recruit him.
Dillon's big Senior season is predicted by what Bryant calls, " Our senior speed and domination with speed players. "
Say what you want but Tech High School has three other senior prep players that will open eyes and surprise people this season...
Dillon's senior support comes from : 6-2 Randal Smith , 6-4 Dario Lee and 6-4 Mike Bunnell. The Tech Titans may have just enough quickness to dethrone Arlington for the City Championship !
Indiana's Top 8th Grader Visits Iowa !!
Washington ,Indiana's 6-8 185 Pound Luke Zeller spent this past weekend in Iowa visiting family and watching Iowa Hawkeye intrasquad action.
Luke's mother graduated from Iowa Coe College and his grandparents live just 30 miles from The University Of Iowa.
Only 13 years old with size 18 feet and hands as large as a tennis racket, Zeller will be one exciting player to follow in High School.
Greatly skilled now, Zeller's final growth spurt (to possibly 7-0) will determine his College potential.
One thing is sure,Washington High School Graduate and Iowa Hawkeye Coach Sam Alford will be closely monitoring the progress of Indiana's Top 8th Grader.STAY TUNED !

Ric Wyand Chooses IPFW!!
Indianapolis Franklin Central's 6-6 scoring machine has chosen the NCAA Division 1 new entry at Ft. Wayne,Indiana.
Wyand chose Doug Noll's Men Basketball program over similar offers from:Winthrop , New Hampshire , Army , Navy , Elon , and St.Joseph's College
Purdue Recruit Hart To Announce First Week Of November
" I am probably best suited for Iowa , or Michigan's style of play ,but Purdue and Wisconsin are in my final four that has no particular order," Flint ,Michigan's 6-5 Jaquan Hart tells IBN Sunday evening.
" I like Purdue a great deal but I don't think Coach Keady will be there that long," Hart continued.
" I may or may not make more visits before my announcement in early November," concluded Hart.

In Step With Gary Roosevelt Legend Renaldo Thomas
We talked to The Panther legend at the recent Gary Steelhead tryout camp.
Indiana Prep fans will remember Thomas as the top player on the Panther 1982 Runnerup team that gallantly played but lost to Scott Skiles Plymouth State Champion.
As a member of The University Of Houston's Cougars, Thomas was a member of the Cougar team that lost to Jim Valvano's North Carolina State miracle team.
Besides learning the game from Hall Of Famer Ron Heflin, Thomas also learned a few things each day in College practice from NBA Legends Clyde Drexler and Hakeem Olajuwaan
His desire to work closely with the young Panthers has been key to their development.
For several years now he has been teaching at Beckman Middle School in the School City Of Gary.
In that position ,or in his position as Freshman Roosevelt coach ,he has positively influenced all the current Roosevelt players.
"Panther Pride is on the rise again," stated Thomas when he greeted us at The Steelhead Camp.
"Senior 6-4 Kenneth Lampley is the best player in Gary and also should be considered a leader for Mr. Basketball," Thomas stated.
6-0 Sr. Chad Knight shoots well and he has worked hard this fall.
IBN needs to see Knight become a versatile guard instead of just setting and shooting.
6-4 Senior slasher Danny Smith has a chance to be good after Junior College if he will apply himself..Strange is Smith's game as he will be very explosive and productive in spurts, then go AWOL for several minutes at a time..Smith must prove some consistency his Senior year.
No less than 5 Legitimate NCAA D1 Prospects will grace The Roosevelt roster as Juniors and Sophomores.
6-6 Jr. Donnell Franklin has small forward ability and potential to be the best the player in The Class of 2002..
Explosive and aggressive, Franklin has worked hard at the game.
Watch him closely to see if he delivers big for Roosevelt.
6-0 Damien Guider is as good a guard as the State has to offer in the Junior Class if he can prove that he can win and deliver under pressure....
Roosevelt three Sophomores are Top 15 In Indiana Class Of 2003.
These Panthers have few peers ability wise but they must prove during this season that they can be great team players.6-4 Jamal Nash is the best of the trio on the court as he can play all 5 positions.
A great shooter ,some amateur prognosticators have been remiss and narrow minded to call him a power forward.
Nash may not play Varsity until January, at which time he can prove that he is serious about academics.
6-0 Larry Upshaw is the Sophomore playmaker that has all offensive tools and ability to defend the entire court.Upshaw should split time with Guider and Knight.
6-6 Sophomore Naquan Jackson can play positions 2-5 for any team ..Naquan is potentially better than 6-5 Deandre Peyton/ Lawrence Central when he wants to be, but consistency and work ethic has been his problems.
After losing a 16 point lead last tourney time to eventual Sectional Champion Munster, Consistency and mental toughness must be proved by the young Gary Roosevelt Panthers.
They can be the worst team in Northwest Indiana or they can Win Regionals.
They Certainly will be tested early as their first game is versus cross town rival Gary Westside.
The Gary Powerhouses square off in the first game of The East Chicago Central High School Thanksgiving Classic....

Ben Davis Senior Jay Jones On Recruiting And Boyhood Friend Aaron Patterson
"The best thing that happened to me was when coach Witty suspended me for 5 games for my academics," Jones tells IBN Friday evening.
"I now will academically qualify for NCAA D1 Basketball when I graduate ,"stated Jay.
The 6-0 pure combo lefty guard has been offered by new NCAA D1 Gardner-Webb .The Boiling Springs, North Carolina University signed Chris Wiggins from Warsaw last season and Chris is doing well as a Freshman..
Jay Jones has also received interest from Central Michigan, Elon and Highpoint College.
" I will play the season out before I make a decision," Jones tells IBN.
" Banks and myself will just go score 25 each or do whatever is necessary to win," said Jay.
"Aaron missed the first week of conditioning and then came later with no required physical exam or proper haircut," stated Jones.
" All summer we never knew where to find him between his father, mother and step-mother,,continued Jay.
" I grew up with both Aaron and Nick Washington.""They were on varsity as freshman and they both are nowhwere to help us now , " stated Jones.
" They are my guys but I now must concentrate on finding " work ethic s" from Senior 6-7 Anthony Beasley and 6-5 Junior Larry Baker," explained Senior Jay Jones.
" Beasley has had a bad ankle and Junior Baker must learn the physical game ," Jay Jones explained. " Aaron's mom might be his legal guardian but he is still walking our halls as a student,"reports Jay Jones.
"Just today I almost got into it with Aaron because I am mad at him for letting us down,"Jones reports.. "I came through the grades with Aaron and now he is no longer playing,"Jay concluded."His loss is huge to us but we will work hard to still have a championship season,"Jay states.

Kentucky and Purdue are Finalists For 6-5 Darmetries Kilgore /Tyler Junior College
"If I sign early in November then I will choose between Purdue and Kentucky",Kilgore told IBN Wednesday evening from his dormitory room.
" Many programs have backed off Darmetries only because they think his South Bend home proximity makes him a lock for Purdue ",Tyler Assistant Matt Javit tells IBN.
Kilgore tells IBN ,"Purdue has been the first to offer and I might committ to them October 27-29 during my official visit."
The Ball is in Keady's court now so only time will tell if Keady can close the deal..
We think Kilgore is all but committed to Purdue unless some sound recruiting offers are made in the next week..
More Good Recruiting News For Purdue is the fact that 6-9 Junior Kevin Cates /Marion is now very high on the Boilers.
Cates has visited unofficially Purdue University many times and we feel he now favors the Boilers..
Cates also is very high on Ball State and Butler.
Kevin has also unofficially visited both the Cardinal and Bulldog Mid-Major programs..
Besides the 7-2 Sophomore Ronnie Norman moving in from Mississippi, Marion also will be receiving perimeter depth from a neighboring Community move- in.

Aaron Patterson enrolls at Warren Central
The powerful 6-4 player did everything in his power to try and finish his High School Career at Ben Davis.
Problem was, Aaron's mother (legal guardian)moved to Warren Township in August..
Aaron still tried to make the cross town journey each morning to attend Ben Davis his senior year, but this transportation problem has become a huge strain to accomplish each day...
Whether or not he will be eligible to compete this season is another question..
Academically, Patterson's only chance for success was to transfer to the School District that he now resides in.
We wish the broad shouldered ,personable Patterson the best as we have enjoyed watching his game stretch to Small Forward over the past four years..
Jackson Atoyebi Chooses Elon College !!
Culver Military Academy's 6-6 235 pound forward has chosen NCAA D1 Elon College for his College Basketball Career.
Atoyebi chose Elon over Wisconsin Green Bay, IUPUI, Youngstown State,Winthrop and The Great Lakes Valley Conference.
Long armed, strong and blessed with huge hands -Jackson potentially is capable of stretching his game to NBA Danny Fortson potential..His huge frame can easily hold twenty more pounds.
His game improved every weekend of the spring /summer season..
Late in July, at Las Vegas Big Time is where his recruiting really took off. Some Indiana Clubs choose not to participate, but all Midwestern Colleges actively attend this event..
Jackson's committment to Elon is a huge "downer" to BIG TEN football programs because as a powerful tight end,Atoyebi runs a 4.6 forty and is extremely hard to tackle..
A 35" inch vertical leaper, Jackson's 6-10 wing span equals a top of the backboard touch -every time he attacks the glass.
Marion's State Champion Matt Backs will probably start as a freshman for Elon and Jackson Atoyebi /Culver Military is expected to help Backs and Elon reach the next level of NCAA D1 Basketball.Stay Tuned !!
New Castle's Corey Bennett Committs To The University Of Indianapolis !! After toying with a great deal of soft NCAA D1 interest, Corey Bennett has decided to stay close to home and compete for Todd Sturgeon's Outstanding Great Lakes Valley Conference NCAA D2 program..
The D2 Conference is America's strongest and the U OF I degree is more respected than 80% of NCAA D1 College and University degree programs.
The athletic, quick footed Bennett is a very good playmaker and a huge future addition to Indianapolis Bsketball.
We appreciate the emails that alerted us to this fact including the message from oncourtindiana.com ..

Former Indiana Prep Stars Tryout For Gary SteelHeads CBA Franchise !!
This past weekend 80 talented former Indiana Prep and/or College athletes each plunked $150.00 down for the chance to make The CBA roster.
Remote is the best word to describe their chance of making the team since once the NBA makes their cut, the CBA will then have a large pool of available talent.
Regardless of their chances for employment, we greatly enjoyed watching the former Indiana Hardwood Heros..
No one was in better condition or played harder at both ends of the court than 5-10 Dan Penn/ Lake Central /Purdue University Calumet.
His efforts Sunday were not good enough to make the final 17 as he was cut after making the final 43.
Small Guards like Penn are a dime a dozen in the Pro ranks but Penn could have contributed to this organization..
Solid in all areas of the game, Penn's only weakness was his inability to create shots..Creating shots is what most teams do not want their playmakers to do ,yet that is the only aspect of the game that Penn struggled with.
Sunday's Final 43 included several former Gary players that obviously advanced to the final day because of their address.
The players that did make the final 17 were invited to the Steelheads November 30 training camp..This camp will include the athletes that The Franchise drafted plus those many that were cut from NBA teams...
Drafted Indiana natives include 6-3 Jaraan Cornell/South Bend Clay /Purdue , 6-9 TJ Lux /Merrillville /Northern Illinois and 6-7 Greg McQuay /Gary Westside /Purdue..
Indiana Tryout players that have the best chance of making the 10 man Gary CBA roster includes, 6-5 Mark Atkins /Gary Westside/Missouri/Europe/CBA, 6-8 Milosh Pujo/Munster/Lewis /Germany and 6-1 Marcus Lovett /Ft.Wayne Northrop /Oklahoma City..
The 6-5 Atkins is a seasoned Pro that is strong at 225 and a tremendous scoring threat to 27'..He has earned his living shooting hoops since his Collegiate days at Missouri.
He knows that he will either be a Steelhead or a European Pro in January..
Milosh Pujo scored 23 ppg. and grabbed 10.3 rpg. last season in Mainz,Germany. At 235 solid pounds, Pujo was the most physical player in the post this weekend..
His bone rattling back picks ,pick and rolls and rebound block outs established a post respect that many players did not want any part of..
Marcus Lovett is an explosive combo, lefty guard that Steelhead Coach Frank Kendrick recruited hard when he was a Purdue Assistant.
Lovett was not an academic qualifier at the time..Kendrick now can choose rosters with no regard for academics or College Statistics. What Frank Kendrick can now do for the first time in his life is recruit players solely based on their ability to win Basketball games... Steelhead Roster Choices will be heavily scrutinized by the local community..
The front office is all local with no coaching or Athletic Management experience. So ,all player choices that are not local and are not productive, will be hammered daily in the local barbershops.
Those shops will prove to be the public venues that make or break The Steelheads.
Other Former Indiana Preps that were invited to the Steelhead November 30 Camp include : 5-9 Lasalle Thompson /Pike /Indiana State/Ball State(96),6-10 Victor Stallworth/Pike/Central State University,6-6 Dan Clark /Portage/St.Joseph,6-3 Eddie Jones/Gary Wirt/ Northwest Missouri,6-3 Rick Alspach/Bishop Noll/North Park,6-2 George Butler/Gary Roosevelt/ Georgetown and 6-5 Ray Yagleski/Chesterton/ Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Yagleski is an explosive athlete that also has range to 18'..He may have a roster chance for no reason other than his comment that,"I would play for free."
Any team organizers must love that sentiment..
Noticeably was also the explosive play of 6-8 Terrance Shannon/Thornwood.Shannon is extremely weak physically and painfully light at 180 pounds..He raised eyebrows only with his ability to rise above the backboard box..
His explosiveness was impressive in layup lines but his inability to physically compete in scrimmages all but negated his physical gift of spring.
Work may one day develop Shannon into a player worthy of his World Class Athletic Gifts..
"I have a one year contract and I will not make any personnell mistakes," Coach Kendrick stated Sunday afternoon after he cut to 17 and before he drove to Indpls. for view of players that will be cut from NBA..
"The CBA is a business.People will only watch us if we win, not because we have someone from the area,"stated Kendrick..
"This Northwest Indiana Area will support any players as long as they win, continued Frank.."
"We will dress players from Mars if they have the game and discipline to help this franchise win", conclude the Hyper Positive first year CBA coach.
Only Time Will Tell How This Franchise begins playing out in December...

Marion's 7-2 Ronnie Norman
6-3 Allen "Deuce Miller tells IBN that this 7-2 Ron Norman has moved to Marion from Mississippi.
"I have not seen him play but I did see him touch the rim on his tip toes", stated Miller.
" He is huge and supposedly he is eligible." Hopefully he will help Kevin inside", continued Allen in reference to 6-9 Junior Kevin Cates..
The talented 6-3 Small forward also reported that he will be glad when football is over so he can recover physically and prepare for Basketball .
He is receiving recruiting mail daily from Iowa,Marquette,Ball State and Iowa State."Deuce" was not sure what grade Norman is in ;but, if he will rebound and block shots, the Giants have received a tremendous boost to their State Championship Defense..
We also asked "Deuce" about a rumored 6-9 Foreign Exchange Student from Finland and he replied," I have not seen or heard of anyone like that."
Marion's Junior Class led by "Deuce", 5-9 Isaac McClung, 6-9 Kevin Cates,6-3 Bobby Pittman and 6-1 Kyle Owensby will be more than most opponents will be able to match-up with.
Add 7-2 Newcomer Ron Norman and 6-0 Sr.Josh Peters in the Marion Giant mix, and you have created a seven man Army that will be extremely hard to Dethrone !!!

High Major Prospect Enrolls At Warren Central This Week !
No, we are not prepared to break this story yet because it will create enough controversy on it's own merit. However, the truth is that a highly recruited College prospect has been living in The Warren Township school district with his legal guardian since August 1.He has attempted to remain in his previous school district but the travel has been to much of a burden..
At the latest, we expect him to be eligible for participation at Warren Central in January. Academically, Warren Central is his only chance for survival because he currently is struggling for transportation to his previous school.
With or without this prospect,Warren Central is determined to defend their Marion County Championship.
The team's best player Terren Wilson will be called on to score more this year from his natural mode of playmaking.
Braids, tatoos and lack of a qualifying SAT has hurt his recruiting to this point but Siena,Bowling Green and Nebraska have maintained interest.
Wilson has cut his hair and we predict that yesterday (Saturday)he achieved a passing SAT score.5-10 Junior Tyrone Green will probably playmake while looking for Terren to improve his 16 ppg. average.Senior 6-0 Randy Wells has never been ranked by IBN because his game is football.Yet, he is all brawn and power that translates into a hugely effective High School basketball player. He just overpowers people!!
6-8 Will Caudle blocks shots, rebounds and must stay out of foul trouble this season for Warren to possibly repeat as County Champs(or contend for State)..
The rangy ,long and agile Caudle was offered by Purdue, Iowa and Xavier based purely on potential..
He needs a strong academic Senior year to qualify and he must develop some legitimate " Go To Offensive " moves in order to be a factor at his College Choice-Xavier.
Senior 6-5 220 Robert Boykin will be a huge rebounding post presence for Warren once he fully recovers from Summer knee surgery.
Robert is very physical and many opponents choose to not bang with the Warrior Strongman....
6-4 Senior Rufus Robertson is another that we under rank ..He plays sparingly in Spring/Summer but he will be huge for Warren if for no other reason than his desire to play hard ..
Rufus has few peers athletically and he could develop like recent Nebraska recruit Brennon Clemmons/Northwest/ Olney Central Junior College- if he so desires..
Warren Central Must Be Considered A Top State Contender !!
Talk About A War !!
Warren's toughest battle will be to repeat as Marion County Champions..
Pike,Lawrence North, Ben Davis, and Lawrence Central all promise to be not only County Powers but also State Contenders.
Stay Tuned !!

Kokomo High School's Blair Crawford
The 6-2 Shooting Guard currently is throwing spirals as QB for the Wildkat football team.
As a QB, Crawford is being recruited by Pennsylvania and Ball State.Basketball (like most Indiana prep two prep stars) is the sport Blair wants to pursue in College.
Most The Great Lakes Valley D2 schools are recruiting Crawford while only Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan and Chicago State are calling from the NCAA D1 ranks.
Our evaluation of Crawford has always been that he was NCAA D1 mid-major capable. He reinforced that rating with his strong performance at The Top 100 Workout.
Strong and quick from the combo guard position,Crawford shoots a power jump shot off the dribble as well as having the quickness to get to the rim off penetration.
Recruiting has been slow for Crawford to this point only because his college exposure travelling team cancelled the all important July schedule
Imagine playing every weekend from April to July 1(In preparation of impressing Recruiters during July) and then basically disbanding during the NCAA D1 evaluation period. That is what his travelling team's organizer chose to do.
They were seen briefly in the first few days of July ,but were nowhere to be found in the final 16 days of the July 8-31 open college evaluation period.
Because of that minimal July College Exposure, Crawford must have a very good senior season.
The Good News is in all probability ,Crawford may very well score 25-30 points per game this season in new coach Mike Wade's exciting uptempo offensive system.
As a team,Kokomo would previously sometimes shoot only 35 times per game.Crawford should get 30 shots himself in the new Offensive system..
Wade previously developed exciting teams at Highland and Blue River Valley.Kokomo is also featuring another NCAA D1prospect in Catquick 5-8 Gordon Morgan.
Morgan is a very sound playmaker that should now average 8-12 assists per game in the uptempo system.
Seniors 6-5 Matt Croddy and 6-6 280 pound Chris Abney will provide the post game for Kokomo.Abney's BIG TEN lineman presence in the paint will anchor Kokomo's interior defense.
Junior 6-0 Kishem Tyler is an athletic wing that also will be the defensive stopper for Kokomo.
Sophomores 5-10 Matt Bell and 6-5 Jacob Guest also figure large in the Kokomo High School's 2000-2001 season.
Kokomo will surprise many in the mighty North Central Conference this season.
College Recruiters would be wise to follow the progress of both Blair Crawford and Gordon Morgan.

Ft. Wayne Carroll's Gabe Miller
The springy 6-6 mid major prospect is the key to Carroll High School's chances this season.
Deadly offensively, you must guard Miller's treyball to 23' feet while also respecting his quick first step to the basket.
Once he finds an opening in the lane, he is able to score off most Indiana preps by jumping over their defensive challenge.
A true Small Forward College prospect, Gabe is actively being recruited by:
Central Michigan
Eastern Michigan
Western Michigan
David Lipscomb (TN)and Rollins College (Florida).
Carroll High School has a great opportunity to rule Northeast Indiana Class 4A hoops..
Gabe Miller receives Senior help from multi sport star 6-7 Scott Bushong , 6-5 Shooter Matt Ogle , 6-2 Zach Schortgen , 6-4 John Conner , and 6-6 250 Pound Behemoth Kent Christman
Juniors that figure to provide steady guard play in the eight player rotation are 6-0 Drew Poston and 5-10 Troy Striggle..
If Carroll High School guards prove that they are capable, Gabe Miller and Scott Bushong will lead Carroll through Class 4A Regionals....

6-2 Josh and Jerod Weimer of Lakeland High School Committ To Bethel College
"99% identical" is what Josh tells us that he and Jerod are.
Maybe so but the twins are not similar on the court.
Jerod playmakes and Josh shoots from everywhere.. Bethel College is very fortunate to land two guards this early with the Weimer twins ability
Indianapolis Arlington High School To Contend For State Championship !!
Larry Nicks's Golden Knights have ruled The City Tournament by winning 3 of the last 4 City Championships..
This year's team has the talent to win it all in March !!
6-9 230 Babo Nyamsi Serge Christian will be a huge force in the middle. The Cameroon, African foreign exchange student tells IBN," I will lead The State in rebounding and blocked shots."
Babo is academically doing well and will be taking the SAT this Saturday..
The weekend of the 21st he will visit Ohio University with plans to also visit Butler and Marshall
A preseason College Choice is very possible for Babo.
Prep school at Winchedon Academy in Massachussetts is also a distinct possibility..Big Decisions are forthcoming from the amiable Babo..
6-4 230 Maurice Barr and 6-2 Ricardo Horton are two seniors that should contribute..Barr is a low post scoring machine and Horton is a shooter that is capable of torching the many zones that opponents must play just to not get blown out..
The Heart of The Golden Knight Junior class is 6-2 200 football player Jason Bell.Bell is a Warrior that rebounds, defends and does all in his power to just WIN !!
5-11 Tony Finn is the QB in football and he may play point for Coach Nicks since he is also a playmaker in Hoops.
Juniors 6-7 Delco Rowley and 6-2 Antwan Alexander have NBA potential but consistency and intensity are issues that both need to address this season..Rowley physically is a Glen Robinson clone but basketball wise he is light years removed from a Robinson citing.
The good news is that Delco has applied himself and seriously is interested in becoming a great player.
Alexander has been recovering from knee scar tissue surgery ..
In possession of a legit 45" vertical and pure treyball to 25', Antwan has been busy (with Delco) unofficially visiting Notre Dame,Ohio State and Purdue .. Iowa will unoficially be visited October 21...
Arlington Head Coach Larry Nicks has Sophomores 5-10 Jamar Thomas and 5-9 Thomas Williams to call on if playmaker Finn is unable to deliver..Thomas is the best choice at this time because he also busts zones well while also being adept at feeding the post..
Williams is an incredible ballhandler from Chicago with the typical bad habits many Chicago guards have..He overdribbles and does not feed the post when they are open..
If he corrects those flaws, he will be a great player at Arlington.
If he does not lose the fancy nonsense, he will be another lost Chicago prodigy in the same manner as Tunji Thurman..Don't remember Thurman ?
Thought So !!
17-5 last season as City Champions in Indianapolis,Larry Nicks and his Golden Knights are primed to reach the next level in Indiana Basketball.
. The Arlington Coaching Clinic information this weekend should be confirmed by calling Coach Nicks at: 317-226-2310

Park Tudor's High Major Senior 6-7 Vytas Danelius Has Not Committed !!
We appreciate the many emails concerning the Lithuanian Foreign Exchange student.
However, Vytas has not committed to North Carolina State..Coach Herb Sendek of NCSU may very well receive the committment but not before Vytas considers offers from Butler, Nebraska,Notre Dame,Wake Forest,New Mexico,Texas Tech,Rutgers,Alabama, and Missouri.
"He will visit schools before he makes a choice and he must take the SAT before he makes a visit,"stated coach Ed Kelly.
" Vytas will not committ until after the season," continued Coach Kelly..
Fellow Lithuanian foreign exchange student 6-2 Senior Marius Kliokys has an offer from American University and he is being actively recruited by Miami of Ohio,Butler, and Idaho State..
Ed Kelly also reports that " both Mike Brey (Notre Dame) and Dave Odom (Wake Forest) rate Kliokys as a no brainer for Mid Majors."
Ed Kelly has been in the Mid Major College Basketball Wars as an assistant at Butler. We have always found his player ratings and evaluations to be precise.
Once you consider what Park Tudor accomplished last season,we predict the best Indiana Sectional this season to be the shootout that Loaded Park Tudor will encounter with Tourney Saavy Lafayette Central Catholic .
We hope to see you all at that Game !!
Thad Matta (Butler) and Tim Buckley (Ball State) To Headline Coaching Clinic
The veteran NCAA D1 assistants and First year Head Coaches will speak this Saturday at Arlington High School's Coaching Clinic.
Arlington Athletic Director and Head Boys Coach Larry Nicks can be reached at the Indianapolis Eastside school for more clinic information at:317-226-2310.

Gary Westside's 6-11 Chris Hunter Talks With IBN
Saturday Morning we were able to speak with Chris Hunter before he left his home to enjoy the weekend.
At the September 10 IBN Top 100 Workout, Chris demonstrated what we have been saying for two years..
The kid is an inch from 7-0 tall but he is in possession of Small Forward skills..
At the workout Chris swept in to block many shots, he grabbed rebounds in traffic,he pushed the ball off the dribble in break and he hit several perimeter shots to 18 feet..
Last July 4 he reported that his favorite Colleges were North Carolina,Duke and Cincinnati.
He now tells IBN that a great deal of schools have been to open gym to inquire about him..
He is wide open to all schools at this time but the Big Ten,ACC and Big East Conference Schools will be the finishers for Chris Hunter unless a Mid-Major like Ball State can sway the lanky 200 pound prospect.. The Cardinals have been developing 6-10 Lonnie Jones of Gary Lew Wallace. The NBA bound Jones was overlooked out of High School but last season he helped Ball State easily defeat Purdue..
Chris Hunter is much better than Lonnie Jones at the same stage of their career..Their similarity is the fact that both have been very light and long post/perimeter players..As good as their skill is,both have been thrown around in the paint by smaller ,stronger post players..
Monday and Wednesdays Chris is lifting and running while Tuesdays and Thursdays he is playing in the Westside open gym.
On paper,Gary Westside is Northwest Indiana's Best Team
Problem with paper is that it cannot hit a free throw shot, prevent a turnover or stop an out of position "reach in foul."
Those weaknesses have "cut the throat " each season of Region teams with a great deal of individual talent..
Gary Westside must prove they do not belong in that "pigeon holed stereotyped " catergory that region teams fall into each season.
And whew!! What talent can Westside put on the floor!!
Besides Chris Hunter and fellow Junior (High/Mid Major College Prospect) 6-0 Brandon Cameron,Westside also features two mid to high major Senior prospects in 6-9 Bryson McKenzie and 6-3 Donald Richards.
Hunter reports that he also expects a great deal of post support from Seniors 6-4 Terrance "Skywalking " Brown and Banger 6-5 Chris Sims.
Time Will Tell If The Gary Westside Basketball Family Has The Discipline And Unity To Represent Northwest Indiana In State Championships.
STAY TUNED !!
Great Day For LaPorte High School Basketball
6-5 Junior Post Strongman Ian McGriff underwent exploratory knee surgery to discover that only cartilage had been torn in his September 11 injury.
The dreaded season ending ACL injury was first suspected but now Ian should only miss the first month of action.
A healthy McGriff is key to any Tourney hopes past Sectionals..A key cog in LaPorte's fifth straight Sectional championship last season, Ian's ability to contain Purdue bound 6-7 Brett Buscher/Chesterton was a great indicator of McGriff's potential College ability.
A solid Low Major Power forward prospect, the Great Lakes Valley Conference and NCAA D1 Programs that need muscle vs. heigth in the post should inspect Ian McGriff..LaPorte Senior 6-4 Shooter Nick Otis had a great visit this weekend at Belmont University.
Comfortable with everything at The University,Otis will probably visit more Colleges this Fall before he makes a choice. Stay Tuned !!

Jerod Adler Chooses Indiana State University!!
"I found ISU to have a real quality program with a great deal of integrity,"Jerod told IBN Sunday evening."You know in just a few minutes where you stand with Coach Waltman",Jerod continued.
The Adams Central Valedictorian also was impressed with Sycamore academic programs citing both the School of Education and Business School as areas of interest.Southern Illinois and Liberty were also strongly considered by the 6-9 215 pound Adler.
Jerod averaged 16.5 ppg and 11.2 rpg. last season for Adams Central.
Indiana Basketball has no better representative than Jerod Adler.
Adler defines the term Student/Athlete.Academically he is excellent.Active in Eagle Scouts,Choir,Theater while also managing the family farm-Jerod Adler is an example of everything that is good about young people participating in High School Athletics. He has taken the rigors of team Sport and used the disciplines to reinforce his development as a Man.
Many athletes let the round ball "use them" but Jerod Adler will continue "using the ball" for Higher Education and Personal Development. We predict Jerod Adler to earn a Masters Degree before he finishes his playing eligibility..
Indiana Basketball News Salutes Jerod Adler!!

Miguel "Ali" Bierdidel Update
Marquette joins Nebraska and Valparaiso in offering the 16 year old Andrean senior..
Purdue,Texas and Utah also are actively recruiting Bierdiel.
Miguel recently declined a visit to Purdue.
Sporting a 3.9 GPA with ambitions to be a Medical Doctor,Miguel has not yet been officially approved by The IHSAA to play this season at Andrean.
Since Miguel entered The United States of America in a Foreign Exchange program endorsed by The IHSAA,we believe he will be approved to participate this season.
The IHSAA decision should be announced this week.Stay Tuned !!

Special News Bulletin: Geyer Leaves IU!
6-7 230 Center Derek Lawrence /Northview
Academically strong with a 3.5 GPA and 1230 SAT,Derek has been targeted by instate Depauw and Hanover.
The IVY LEAGUE has also inquired..Derek was particularly strong at The IBN Top 100..Solid down low on the blocks,Lawrence compensates for average quickness with his smart body positioning.
No one in Indiana blocks out stronger or uses their body strength better than Derek Lawrence..lOW MAJOR Scholarship Granting College programs needing a hard working, roadblock -- should make the trip to Brazil,Indiana for a Nothview game. The 14-6 Northview looks to improve on their last year season record if they can find Derek some guard play. Derek has solid help inside with Sophomore 6-5 brother Dustin and 6-6 Senior Matt Kennedy.

Brandon Turner (Anderson Highland) and Jake Howe (Evansville Harrison )Recruiting News
Brandon Turner at 6-7 230 pounds is a low post behemoth in possession of a dozen skilled scoring moves.Blessed with a soft touch and long arms, Brandon deceptively scores and defends well opponents that are much larger.
Youngstown State and Elon have both visited him and extended offers. Chicago State and Gardner Webb are also actively recruiting The Big Fella.
Turner has a 2.6 Core GPA and a PSAT that predicts he will acquire more than the necessary 820 SAT.
Brandon looks forward to a successful Highland season and expects support from fellow seniors 5-9 Phil Washington and 6-3 Landon Hill.
Jake Howe at a lanky 6-8 is an exciting prospect in that he scores well to 18' and athletically he is laterally agile and explosive off the floor..
Howe's achilles heel to this point has been his inability to gain much needed muscle mass for the rigorous post play inside.
More than likely ,Jake simply is a late bloomer physically, because he has religiously adhered to a serious strength gain program for a year now.
IUPUI visited the Howe home yesterday with an offer and Akron,Southern Indiana and David Lipscomb also have standing Scholarship offers for Howe.Marist College(New York) of The NCAA D1 East Coast Athletic Conference is also actively recruiting Jake Howe.Like Turner, Jake expects a good year at his High School( Evansville Harrison ) with support from 5-10 Senior Patrick Sanders and 5-9 Sophomore Kente Hart.6-0 Donta Watson(move in from Jeffersonville) is a Top 5 Junior Point Guard Prospect. He should provide lane penetration that will "free up" Howe for easy baskets. Also figuring to help Harrison this season is 6-3 Sophomore Small Forward Jon Lee
Neither Turner or Howe have decided if they will choose a College in November or wait until April.
We will have more on these talented preps so Stay Tuned !!

High Major Recruits Adam Waleskowski and Jaquan Hart Still List Purdue University
The Boilermakers dismally failed in their goal of completing their 2001 recruiting class before Coach Keady departed for The 2000 Olympics in Sydney,Australia.
They landed early only 6-2 Brandon Mcknight/South Bend LaSalle..
Mcknight accepted Purdue's offer only because his favorite (South Bend's Notre Dame) snubbed him in favor of 6-0 Chris Thomas/Pike..Thomas was an early academic qualifier;thus, the best choice for The Irish.
6-8 220 pound Adam Waleskowski of Alter High(Dayton,Ohio) will unofficially visit Purdue this weekend.."I will not choose a school for at least a month.Purdue is one of six schools that I am considering ",Adam told IBN Tuesday evening....
The power forward who scored 12 ppg.and grabbed 14 rpg. last season is also equally considering:
Penn State
Xavier
Tennessee
Dayton
Florida State..
Only Time Will Tell If Purdue can persuade Waleskowski to nix all other offers and accept a scholarship offer to Purdue University.
Wednesday Gene Keady and Cuonzo Martin visited and left 6-5 Jaquan Hart/Flint Northern without a committment !!
The elite perimeter performer Jaquan Hart did not accept Keady's offer but he does say that, "Purdue,Iowa,Wisconsin and Michigan are all equal in my final choices."
After I visit Michigan October 21, I will then be able to list the four schools in order of preference ", concluded Jaquan Hart.
Yet, Hart does not seem eager to committ early but to only determine what program truly needs and desires his game as a priority.
We predict JaQuan Hart to decide on his college choice in April...
JaQuan did not hint at a leader but we believe (from many other sound sources) that Michigan and Iowa are the programs to beat for his services..

Brennon Clemmons Committs To Nebraska !!
The 1999 Indianapolis Northwest High School graduate currently is a Sophomore at Olney Central Junior College.
This Wednesday afternoon the 6-2 180 pound Clemmons has accepted a Full Athletic scholarship to The University of Nebraska.
Clemmons is the first Indiana native to sign with New Cornhusker Coach Barry Collier(ButlerUniversity Former mentor). Clemmons grew up just minutes from Coach Collier's former employer Butler University.
Brennon gained his national college exposure playing with Arizona's Jason Gardner during the July summer NCAA College evaluation period.
The talented Indianapolis preps were members of Gary Betts No Excuses program.Other team members were 7-0 John Stewart/Lawrence North/Kentucky (deceased), 6-5 Gavin Groninger /Plainfield/Michigan ,6-6 Krunti Hester/Brebeuf/Lamar and 5-10 Brody Boyd /Dugger /Iowa.
Clemmons also had offers from Ohio University and Bowling Green State University.Indiana's most versatile prep in 1999, Clemmons is now a legitimate shooting wing player..
As a freshman last season at Olney, Brennon averaged 11ppg.,6.2 rpg.,2apg., and 4spg.
Clemmons will give Nebraska a defensive stopper and a deadly inside/out triple threat..
Clemmons is The first Indiana prep to matriculate to Nebraska since Concord's Jamar Johnson in 1989.
Olney Central also has two Indiana preps this season from Avon in Freshmen 6-6 John Harshbarger and 6-7 Troy Weisshar ...

Former Ft.Wayne Snider Star Terry Collins Leaves Appalachian State University
" When I visited the campus last Spring, I committed to them as a point guard..When I arrived I found that they had five point guards and they wanted me to be the shooter," stated Collins...
"I need a school that wants me to playmake .I have my release and I can enroll somewhere second semester ,"continued Terry.
The re-recruiting of Terry Collins is like recruiting a mid to high major College Prospect from the High School Class of 2001 .
He will keep his four years of eligibility at his transferred school..
IPFW must be considered the early leader for the transfer of Terry Collins..

Thursday we have Purdue Recruiting News from JaQuan Hart and Adam Waleskowski...
Donald Perry Committs To Indiana University Tuesday Afternoon
Apparently after we spoke with Donald Perry Sunday evening, he called St.Louis coach Lorenzo Romar to cancel this weekend's visit to The Billikens Program.."I saw all I needed to see when I visited Indiana," Perry remarked Tuesday evening to inbnews.com."Coach Davis visited with me today and I committed to him then,"Perry continued.
Dr. Donald Perry Sr. tells inbnews.com," the visit to Indiana last weekend was overwhelming. The versatility of Jared Jeffries and Jeff Newton was very impressive."
"Guard Dane Fife showed me some crafty old school tricks,"continued Dr. Perry...
For McCall High School,Perry averaged nearly 26 points per game and 8 assists per game last season while maintaining a 3.45 GPA ..
When asked about the Tallulah, Louisiana High School's State Tournament chances this season,Perry responded -"We should win it all.."
Hopefully for Indiana Fans, Win It All is something that might once again be a common phrase in Bloomington,Indiana ...

Lincoln Trail College Features Six Former Indiana Preps
The Robinson , Illinois Junior College Institution for years now has been a Collegiate beginning for Indiana student /athletes.
Former mentor Terry Collins (now at South Suburban College in Chicago) would annually invade Hoosierland with scholarships to offer.
Collins former assistant and current Lincoln Trail Head Coach Rick Arp has been even more aggressive in recruiting our Indiana preps.
To begin with, he hired former Edgewood ,Indiana athlete and "hoops junkie " Chad Killinger to cover Indiana recruiting..
Chad Killinger is that rare possessed basketball coaching zealot that will volunteer his time in the spring/summer as a travelling amateur prep club coach. Admirably he coached the Bloomington Silver program in Bob Pryor's Nike Program.
Three Sophomores returning for Lincoln Trail :
5-9 Erik Chapman /Indianapolis North Central
Erik played sparingly with Jason Gardner as a State champion.Chapman is an incredible leaping athlete that also penetrates well off the dribble. Liberty University is interested early.
6-0 Chris Dehart /Northview
Like Chapman, he will graduate and is a solid three point shooter that also feeds the post well.
6-4 Josh Mullins /Greenfield Central
Mullins is an extremely quick, springy shooting or small forward prospect. His ability to "do it all " has made him a solid Missouri Valley or MAC type prospect in the mold of Nate Green/ Indiana State
Lincoln Trail's Three Incoming Indiana Preps That Are Freshmen:
6-9 Ronald Dokes /South Bend Riley
The big, lanky prospect with NBA potential is apparently a good student but not good at taking tests..Signing early with Ball State, Dokes failed to qualify academically to play his freshman year. Tim Buckley's Cardinals want Dokes back in two years but High Majors will be offering Dokes if he continues elevating his game..
6-1 Demetrick Gamble /Ft. Wayne Snider
The soft shooting scorer to 22 feet can write his college High Major ticket if he will apply himself in the classroom as well as the court." Gamble basically could be the second coming of NBA legend Vinnie Johnson (Detroit Pistons) if he choose to work at the game.
6-1 Jeremy McGlothin/ Bloomington South (1999)
Incredibly after High School, Jeremy had few college options.Being a very borderline to suspect academic student, also did not excite recruiters. We now wonder if he has resolved those problems since he attempted a Walk/on at Indiana State last season.
Talent wise we never questioned Jeremy's ability for Mid Major College Basketball..
Often times he was the most versatile defensive and offensive performer for JR HOLMES Bloomington South State Finalist Team..
McGlothin ability wise could have easily been the playmaking heir apparent for Indiana State..
Since he has returned to the Junior College ranks, we hope Jeremy does whatever is necessary to finally achieve his potential of being a Mid- Major NCAA D1 Playmaking/Combo Scoring Guard..
INBNEWS.COM Salutes Lincoln Trail College/Coach Rick Arp for Recruiting our great State Of Indiana and for providing our Student/Athletes with both Educational and Athletic Advancement Opportunities !!!

Indiana Recruit Donald Perry Will Visit St.Louis Next Weekend
We were fortunate Sunday evening to catch up with the stellar playmaker.Just returning from officially visiting Indiana University ,Perry was tired but very excited to talk about his Bloomington,Indiana trip.
"I had a great time and I like everything about Indiana. I played informally in pick-up games and Leach,Jeffries,Newton and Owens were players I felt comfortable dealing with," gushed Perry..Another plus for Indiana is the fact that Perry favors a Business Administration Degree..Few schools offer a better Degree in Business than Indiana...Perry will visit St.Louis and "Good Guy " Lorenzo Romar's High Major Program next weekend before he considers making a choice..
Donald Perry may very well decide next Sunday evening between Indiana and St.Louis
...Utah and Mississippi are no longer in the running for Donald Perry..

What Will Warsaw Do To Replace Graduated Seniors ??
Losing 6-6 behemoths Zach Nelson and Steve Siebenmorgen to graduation would be a huge void to fill for any coach..Warsaw veteran mentor Al Rhodes must replace their post presence and the perimeter game of 6-5 NCAA D1 Recruit Chris Wiggins (Gardner-Webb).The Tigers were the pride of Class 4A Basketball in Northern Indiana last season before losing in Lafayette Semi-State action to eventual state champion Marion...
Reloading is the theme at Warsaw each season and the 2000-2001 year is no exception.
The Tigers will look different but they will be just as potent..
The Tigers have no fewer than four Seniors that can shoot the ball from all spots on the court.
The best player is 6-6 College Small Forward prospect Paul Finnegan. The rangy shooter scores inside and out .He will be a magnet for junk defenses of which will be hard pressed to also find an answer for equally versatile 6-4 Josh Buck.. Buck will unload from deep but also is strong enough for post offense.
Senior Shooters 6-2 Trent Martin and 6-4 Brian Johnson will spread all opposing defenses to 23 feet.
The Tiger Junior Class also figures large this season with the return of 6-0 playmaker Brad Seiss and 6-3 200 pound strong rebounder Jared Shaw..
The biggest story in Warsaw is the debut of the Clay Twins.
The 6-3 Juniors are very extremely quick and versatile wing players.
These two brothers have a chance to be incredibily special players..
As always, Time Will Tell if The Warsaw Tigers will have enough for a Semi-State Appearance .. We are Sure Of One Thing--Buck and Finnegan are extremely underrated Mid to Low Major College Prospects....

LaPorte Loses Ian McGriff
The Slicer 2000-2001 season recently received a serious blow with the loss of Junior strongman 6-5 210lb.Ian McGriff.
"Apparently Ian incurred an ACL knee injury," according to senior shooter Nick Otis.
"He undergoes surgery October 9 with the possibility of a return in January,"continued Nick.
"He is our strongest post player and a very hard worker. He played great at The Top 100 workout. We will sorely miss his presence inside if the injury is season ending," stated Otis.
Seniors 6-5 Andy Tanksley and midsize post 6-1 200 lb.Steve Lowe now must step up and fortify the Slicer interior game.
If the Slicers are to win their sixth consecutive sectional championship, a strong sophomore class will need to deliver for wily long time mentor Joe Otis.
These Sophomores include:
6-3 forward Eric Gerding,6-2 wing Andy Tanksley,5-10 shooter Kyle Bailey and 5-10 playmaker Joel Tonagel.
Known statewide for extracting the most from available talent , Joe Otis is faced with the coaching job of his life at LaPorte this 2000-2001 season.
Senior6-4 marksman Nick Otis must rally the young Sophomores while also scoring many of the 25 ppg. that graduated Steve Drabyn produced last season for the 15-8 Sectional Champion Slicers...
Ironically Otis will reunite with Drabyn this weekend during his official visit to Belmont University.Prep fans will remember that the disciplined Nashville,Tennessee based NCAA D1 program was the choice of Drabyn and 6-8 Adam Mark/Bremen.
St.Joseph's College and The University of Chicago have also requested official visits from Nick Otis.
